ICT Lesson

Today in ICT class I learned about representation through media. There are many ways to represent something in media and many things that affect the way it is represented. For example and man is represented as being strong and hard. While a woman is represented being fragrant and soft. Representation is strongly based on stereotype because stereotype is understandable and pleases the audience. It is rare to have a person that doesn’t understand the stereotype used so they are used in almost all representations. A representation can be presented in a variety of ways. These include, movies, posters, videos, music, performances, plays, shows, podcasts and radio to name a few. Representation broken down is defined as something that is used to give someone an idea or image in their mind of what the writer is trying to say. A black man may be represented as tough or loud. A white man may be represented as smelly or good looking. A different race of people will also be stereotyped in a different way. An American may be stereotyped as fat and a British person may be described as having a bad accent and being stupid but this may be the opposite as thats what a stereotype is. Culture also ties into representation because culture is one source of what peoples ideas are from. Culture decides if something is appropriate or inappropriate. It plays an important on media and representation because if you make something that offends everyone you will be discriminated or no one will want to watch what you have made. Authors need a form of representation that pleases the audience because that is how they make their money. If nothing pleased anyone than the author would go out of business and be left with no option but to start a new job. Technically representation pays for a lot of people’s bills or takes a part in it anyway.

Reflection

This is my reflection on the school year in ICT so far. So far we have covered mostly our blogs. Our ICT lessons have been mainly focused on them. We learned a lot by working on them. Some of the things we learned were, how to create a blog, how to edit a blog, how to add posts to a blog, how to write in html script, and how to add widgets to our blog. Before we learned how to blog it seemed very hard to me. But with the help of my ICT teacher everyones blogs look good and most have good information well presented. Hopefully in the next term we will continue with our blogs and we will continue to add posts as well as expand our blogs and with the help of our other subjects hopefully our blog entries will be longer, more thought out, and more exiting as we insert more of our school work.

What Not To Do With Your Blog

Sometimes people are not smart when they post things on their blogs. People are taken to court because of blogging cases where things were inappropriately posted. By 2009 a total of 17.4 million dollars had been payed related to blogging issues.
Many people have been fired from their job because their work has found pictures or words that discriminate their peers. Just a tip for all bloggers is to keep your personal information to yourself.

An Awesome Animal

Awesome Animal

This animal is related to science because it is amazing how it can run across water. In reality, it shouldn't be possible. But since this animal has webbed feet and a big tail it is able to balance itself while pushing the water at the same time. Take a look!
